380. Auto Concealed Carry Pistols

I am wondering about a good .380 auto. I already have 9mm and 40 s&w autos for concealed carry, but I want something lighter for a break now and then. I am looking for something that has auto safeties, double action or DA,, dependable, very accurate, small and light, stainless, and really good looking. Something as nice as a Baretta 92.

I am not interested in the 1911 design.

    Bersa Thunder 380. Inexpensive, but not cheap by any means. As far as I know, they aren't made in stainless though. Mine is a "duotone" model. Very pretty, IMHO. Seems like I gave just a tad over $250 for mine NIB last year. And it has shot any ammo I have shoved in the mag with no failures. Can't beat it for the price!


    Taxation WITH representation isn't so hot either!

    Something as nice as a Beretta 92? How about the beretta .380. I have a 84F which is very good but you might be interested in the single stacker (85 cheetah). They are well built and look like 92s that have been shrunk in the dryer. I am sorry you don't like 1911s because Colt made one of the best little .380s, the pocketlite. Hope this helps.

    I own a Sig 230 in stainless. Shoots great. looks fine, DA.
    My only bite to it is I think it could have been a little lighter and could use a little dehorning around the rear of the slide. The 232 may have taken care of this. Still Sig quality.

    Yep, SIG 230 for me too. Shoots great, feeds everything, comes in stainless, and is Swiss precision for Ruger price.

    i like my walther PPKS , small , light, and if you want it comes in stainless. i used it the other night to drop a opossum wit hhydro shocks and worked great.

    All of the .380 pistols mentioned are about as big or bigger (and heavier) than compact 9x19 pistols, and are blowback so they recoil harder than a locked breech 9x19. The Colt .380 Government/Mustang/Pony pistols are about the only locked breech .380 pistols readily available, but they could be said to be of "the 1911 design" so apparently are not acceptable to the poster for reasons I do not understand. The new Kel-Tec 3AT .380 is out but very scarce, but may also be considered of "the 1911 design" by the poster because it also has a locked breech.

    In my opinion, if one is going to go down in power to the .380, the gun should go down in size as well, and only the Colt Pony/Mustang and Kel-Tec 3AT fit that requirement for me. If small and light and stainless are the major requirements, it seems to me that the Colt Pony Pocketlite is the only pistol that meets the poster's requirements. Nothing else mentioned is small and light in my opinion, and only the SIG and Walther are available in stainless.

    When "ericthered" asked for something lighter, a smaller gun came to mind. The Beretta 92FS Compact Type M; a single stack 8 round 9mmn. semi-auto.

    Take a look at the North American Arms Guardian 380DAO.
    I have a stainless 32 with tritium night sight and talk about concealable. Quality at a decent price.

    I'd have to go with Judge Colt and Scrollwork, if you want a .380 ACP,
    go with the smallest size possible. The NAA Guardian or the Colt Pony/Mustang Pocketlite models. Very small and comfortable to wear, especially with light clothing on hot days.

    I carry a Mauser HsC .380, its double action, light weight, fits my hand and most of all - I can hit whatever I shoot at. Never had a malfunction or a problem with it. I think I paid around $300+ for it about four years ago.

    I recommend giving a serious look at the Kel-Tec P3AT .380. Can't be beat for size weight and price. Keltecs have a very good reputation. Altho not stainless, they are a locked breech design, DAO, probably more accurate than you can hold and maybe ugly as six miles of muddy road. I traded in my Keltec .32 for the .380 which is exactly the same profile size except for a tad wider. So light, so flat you hardly know you are carrying it. Hope this helps.
