M1 Garand barrel ID??

    You are your own best teacher. My advice is to question all things. Seek for answers, and when you find what seems to be an answer, question that too. L'Amour

    My guess is that it is stamped "S-A 8-40".

    I agree with skyking. However, there are few WWII barrels in good condition to be found, due to corrosive ammo (&, of course, the war). There are also a bunch of guys trying to restore wartime M1's with bad barrels. So, if yours is in good condition, & the throat erosion & muzzle wear measurements are good, it could be worth a LOT more than $100 to the right person.
