M1 Garand barrel ID??
I have this garand barrel that my father left me and I thought he had said it was a match barrel. The markings on the side of it are 6-A 8-40 on the bottom there is D-35448-2 0-I-3-0 I think that is what it is anyway. I am wondering what vintage this is and of course what a fair value might be. Thanks a-bolt[:)]

August 1940, More than $100. Doesn't appear to be match.
You are your own best teacher. My advice is to question all things. Seek for answers, and when you find what seems to be an answer, question that too. L'Amour0 -
My guess is that it is stamped "S-A 8-40".
I agree with skyking. However, there are few WWII barrels in good condition to be found, due to corrosive ammo (&, of course, the war). There are also a bunch of guys trying to restore wartime M1's with bad barrels. So, if yours is in good condition, & the throat erosion & muzzle wear measurements are good, it could be worth a LOT more than $100 to the right person.
