Rebuilt Winchester M-1 Barrel markings
Have a M-1 rebuilt barrel with the following marks just forward of the receiver:
RBLT.
O.B.S.3
18.1.45
It came on an original 9/44 Winchester receiver. Obviously it has was rebuit Jan. 18, 1945. Where is the question and could it be original to the receiver? Is it rare and worth more than a typical rebuilt barrel? Thanks.

You will need to remove the upper handguard & see what markings are on top of the barrel. Are there any proof or punch marks on the right side of the barrel?
I suspect the markings are commercial; USGI arsenal rebuild markings were never applied to the barrel, only to the receiver.

Usual winchester proof mark and punch mark on right side of barrel. I was emailed and was told the O.B.S.3 stands for Ordinance Base Shop 3. These were field repair shops. Italy and Hawaii had these shops 0
