I'm trying ti idenify or rather find out information on a Cartridge. It's chamberd in what once once a top quality drlling of unknown manufacturer. The name has been obliterated by a "gunsmith" the rifle barrel does have the marking of 7.5x52. A chamber cast matches these 52mm dimension and a bore slug says it 7.5 not 308 and it's a rimmed case. The usual source have nothing about the cartridge. A 30-30 will chamber but the web area is 15 thousands to small. A 303 Brit is slightly to long but would clean up the chamber if you were going to re-chamber, which is what the guy might do. It won't chamber now but is only 2 or 3 thousands bigger in the right areas so I know it will clean out the old chamber safely, pressure being anothe matter. I'm begining to think it's an old propritary round that was fairly obscure. It is not a 7.5 Swiss or any of the other more common ones. Any help? Thanks 0 -
Yes, Winchester, maybe Federal too if I remember right.
You are your own best teacher. My advice is to question all things. Seek for answers, and when you find what seems to be an answer, question that too. L'Amour0 -
Winchester, Remington, and Hornady are the only manufacturers currently making 22 Hornet ammo that I am aware of (and it isn't cheap either... about .90/round).

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just bought an old yellow Winchest. Supr X box of these and it is in great condition. And all 50 rounds packed like they came from the factory. So I got 2 questions answered with one post. I wondered if they had any value over the .50 cents I gave for them. Thanks again.

This is a common European round. Try cheaper that dirt. they have some imported ammo as well. 0 -
I think S & B also produce it.
