carcano cavalry carbine

guys I need some help with an I D. on the stock of the carbine is a square box in the box is a crown and under the crown is the letters F A G and under that is the numbers 41 any idea what the crown and letters mean? also in the serial numbers the letters RM andthen the numbers is this the plant of manufacturer or the branch of service it was made for (royal Marines). Thanks anything would help. 45

  FAG should indicate Fabbrica d'Armi di Gardone (the arms factory in Gardone). The crown was the standard proof marking for all Italian firearms production beginning in 1925 when the new (since 1923) Mussolini Governemnt established its official proving system. The crown was relpaced in 1950 by a five pointed star when Italian law was changed to eliminate all official references to the previous monarchy. 41 would tend to indicate the date the rifle was proved at the Gardone proof house. I believe the RM signifies the Italian Royal Navy and not the Marines as the word navy translates as marina in italian.
