32cal is it powerfull enough to carry

just bought a 32 tomcat and was wondering is it enough to stop a man .
I know cops carry a 9 or 40 but they seem to be hard to conceal, as I have a 96 beretta with a lazer sight, and u all said that it would be hard to hide, and u were right I can only carry it in the winter months. thanks for your help

  Since it's inception around the turn of the century (1900), Most European police carried a 7.65mm pistol. Americans call it .32 ACP.
  
  While FMJ leaves a lot to be desired, new rounds like Speer GOLD DOT have improved the punch of the little round.
  
  Most folks don't want to be shot with a spitball much less a bullet. Shot placement is always much more inportant than the diameter of the ball.
  
  Is there a point here to be made? If not, shut up.

  Remember....a hit with a .22 is better than a miss with a .44!
  
  There are some nice .380's on the market as well and small too.

  I've heard stories ~ DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME ~ of suicide attempts with .25's and .32's, where the bullet actually went AROUND the skull under the skin.
  
  But in the torso, or point blank, against a knife, I'd take ANYTHING to protect my loved ones (a rib under clothing and fat may stop a .32; a drugged out assailant might need more persuasion).
  
  God help the man who tries to abduct my wife even if my .22 Buckmack is loaded with plinkers. Properly used, it will do it's job.

  i know a gun is better than no gun but lets say you are at a bank and 3 masked men show up with ak,s and tce9,s so do u shoot with the little 32 and try to killem all or just sit tight and hope they go away. what do u think

  Sit tight. Unless you are going down, with no choice. If someone is robbing with that kind of artillery, they probably have armor. Maybe if you were a GREAT shot, with head shots, could you save the day. Otherwise, you are a brave victim.
  
  A .45, with a longer barrel, may you the stopping power and accuracy you require. Still, it is a tough call.

  I carry the .32 Tomcat regularly, with Cor-Bon hollowpoints. I wouldn't hesitate to use it to defend innocent lives. I would prefer a short barrelled 12 guage, but... better some gun than no gun.

  I carry a Walther in 32ACP and Silvertips. While bigger is usually better, it is the situation that determines what you can carry. I would rather carry a small carry pistol than nothing at all.

  As for stopping a man with a .32 it may depend on where you hit and how determined or "hopped up" he is. OTOH A quick discharge of a magazine full of .32 rounds can be compared to a round of 00 Buck, which ain't bad. The Kel-Tec .380 is lighter, smaller and more powerful than the Tomcat and costs less. I just traded my Keltec .32 in for the .380, same size but a tad wider, for the added firepower. As someone else said most any caliber gun is better when it is a knife fight.

  I carry a Colt M1903 with Speer Gold Dots when I want something more concealed.
  I usually carry a Beretta 9000 in .40
  
  The .32 will certianly do the job, that is protect your life or the lives of your loved ones if need be.

  I agree as well it is definately better than nothing or just a knife but .380's can be had for around the same price and size.Some very small .380's out there.A .32acp in the right situation that it was purchased for(last ditch,close up protection)will stop an assailant.There isnt a human alive that a .22 cant kill so a .32 is enough if it is needed.
