Nothing to worry about. Could be as simple as a down link to your states computer. Don't know about the call back times, though. Remember, if delayed and they don't call back in 3 days, your dealer can legally sell you the firearm, if they will that is, mine won't sell until he gets a proceed. -Ralph

I use the internet to do 99% of my NICS checks. That way I can check on a "delay" outside of normal business hours and have a printout of all checks done online.

Yeah delays are common. Could be the computer system for ncis or your state system is down or overloaded. I had about 5 or 6 delys for people last month all came back approved in a matter of an hour.

As long as there's been no "Groping" or "Pro-Hitler" comments in your
    past, You "SHOULD" BE "OKAY"!
This has been rumored to cause some problems.

From the beginning my purchases were delayed every time. Then a last year I got the first of several instant approvals, including out of state over-the-counter purchases. Then, a couple of delays. So it goes, not to worry, you will be fine.

That dealer could have a problem if someone wanted to pursue the issue--assuming they've already paid him for the firearm. Once a firearm has been paid for, a contract is complete. The dealer can't decide to break the contract, just because the government messed-up.

If he doesn't accept payment till after the background check is complete, then he probably won't have any problems with his policy.

Strangely I've made over 40 purchases and never had a delay on my background check[?] Maybe I'm just lucky[:D]
