They were pretty good. All investment cast. I had one I bought new a long time ago, and it was a good, working .45. If it's 98%, you should be able to pick it up for under $300. That's what they sell for around here.

Test fire it first if you can. I've owned of a number of AMT products in the past, including the whole top end of a 7" hardballer. Generally the materials (soft investment cast stainless) and workmanship (hardballer left factory non-functional), left a lot to be desired. My 2 cents.

Don't waste your money. Have seen more than one over the years and all were Jam-0-Matics. Very unreliable.

    Hope this helps.

I never cared much for them and felt that quality took a backseat to production quantity. We did have a fellow here on Gun Broker a while back who felt that they were valuable collectors items...he may be bidding against you!

I wouldn't spend more than $250.00 on a AMT Hardballer....I've seen lots and lots of AMT pistols with feeding problems.

I bought an AMT Hardballer new in 1989. It shot everything fine except flat-nosed bullets, especially a 200 grain SWC. It would malfunction on the next to last round in every mag with that type bullet. I replaced my mag followers with rounded Wilson followers and never had a problem after that. I still have the pistol, and have since added a full-length guide rod.

Better to have and not need, than need and not have.

I built a comp gun on one fo the frames several years ago and the only things that bug me about it are the odd width trigger and the non removable ejector. The dimensions are also sloppy.
