    Chris8161,

You could use some search engines also. Here's a link with some ideas: http://www.3bucc.com/

Consider velcro with a mild wire hoop and netting attached to the dust cover.

    Best.

In books about the .45 and World War I you might be able to find pictures of the brass catcher the army tried. I can't remember exactly what it looked like other than to say it was a wire cage type devise. However, I never really paid that much attention to them. If you can find some pictures of these things, the pictures may give you some ideas. Originally these WWI brass catchers were designed for use by pilots and observers in airplanes. They wanted them becasue they were concerned that the empty brass cases would be rolling around in the plane and cause problems with the control wires etc. Best of luck -- Steve

Gee Chris....you mean your 1911 brass doesn't land in a nice neat little pile? [:D]

I've seen a bunch of "brass catchers" in my time....and none of 'em worked worth a damn.

When I'm plinking, I take a piece of 4'x4' cut up old bedsheet. Fire one round, and put the middle of it down where the brass landed. You still have to bend over and pick 'em up, but at least you can find most of 'em.

A company named E&L MFG.makes them and you can buy them from DELTA FORCE.COM or SPORTSMANSGUIDE.COM for about $35.00.

The manuals I've read say not to try to catch any ejected shell. That aside, my .380ACP flies over ten feet, and I never find it away, and the .40S&W lands at my feet, or if I stand in the right place, flips conveniently in the back of my pickup truck. I've toyed with the idea of spreading out a 9' x 12' drop cloth .. too lazy.

Some guns will consistently drop cases in the same place (my SIG P220ST is like that) but most aren't so consistent. I like the drop cloth idea, but haven't tried it yet.

One of the reasons I like wheelguns. [:D]
