Ballaster Molina
Does anyone have any experience with this 45 acp? Available for $249 (get what you pay for?). Would be used as a self-defense gun/paper puncher.

My opinion: 1) $200 max, unless "New-In-Box), 2)Paper punching only, NOT for self defense.
For $250, you can get a good used .38 Spl or even a .357 Mag if you hunt around.0 -
Most Ballesters you get are pretty "shot out". You can fix'em up quite a bit and have a fine shooter for less than $500 total investment and with a little work they make a fine self defense pistol.

Nothing wrong with these pistols at all, given good condition. The barrels and magazines swap with the Colt Govt. Model, and the rest of the design borrows a great deal from the Spanish Star. They lack the Colt's squeeze safety feature, and you are stuck with an arched mainspring housing because it's part of the frame (a feature favored by some shooters), but off-the-shelf accuracy and reliability are as good as the Colt. I can foresee a problem in the future for parts replacement, as the pistol has been long out of production. I like mine! 0 -
If you have a C&R license order it from Century, think they are on sale for $160.
Mine needed to be re-blued and new grips. Have about $210 tied up in it.
Great for home defense and plinking.

I wouldn't use it as a self-defense weapon unless I had no choice. They're better used for target shooting only. With a lot of work and $$$, you can probably turn it into a self-defense weapon. You do get what you pay for.....

They don't take a lot of work to fix up. Although I wouldn't pay $249.00 for one if you happened to find one for $190.00 or less I'd pick it up. And if the gun works and functions just fine for target shooting it should work just fine for self defense.
