Kimber polymer pro carry
I have two questions in regards to my Kimber Polymer Pro Carry.
I took my pistol in to a gun store that advertised "sell or trade you guns here". I took in my Kimber and the man said, well how much do YOU think it's worth? Are you wanting to trade or sell it?
So my first question based on this experience is; how much is Kimber Polymer Pro carry in stainless, with roughly 500 rounds through it, and an extra 14 round (double stack)magazine worth? Also I find it interesting that I'm being asked how much I think it's worth...Shouldn't the shop be telling me that??? I remember paying about +/- $900 for the pistol and the extra mag, and I'm hoping that it's not worth less.
Then another guy walks over and says, "oh, the polymers.....We've had problems with those and we are not interested in that pistol." My secound question, Is there something wrong with the Kimber Polymers? Or was it that I knew I have a Kimber and they wanted for half price?
I know values are subjective and market conditions can pump up a price, but are the polymers not made anymore because they are bad?
Any help would help me decide the fate of this pistol.

I have a chance to buy a LNIB kimber polymer pro carry with 2 hi cap mags. What is a good price for this weapon and how durable are they? Also, are the slides on the polymer kimbers the same as the slide on the all steel pistols? Can custom work be done to these such as a trigger job, etc.?

I have several Kimber's but know nothing about the polymer pro carry. Searching on this and other sites for that pistol will tell you what it's worth (market value). I don't have any value type books currently at my disposal. You can goto Kimber online for the specs on the slides, etc. And for the custom work, Kimber has its own custom shop you can send the gun to and request a buncha upgrades. GL!

The polymers are pretty good guns, but there are some issues with the reliability of the doublestack mags. This is not totally exclusive to the Kimber, but it should be pointed out that .45 ACP doublestacks are fairly demanding in terms of magazine construction. I would recommend that you frequently rotate magazines if you use one for self-defense. Extra magazines and/or springs would be advisable.
Just so I don't sound too harsh on doublestack mags, 1911 single stack mags require careful selection and maintenance as well. And autoloaders of all types need attention to their mags for proper function. Dirty, worn, damaged or poorly designed mags have been one of the greatest sources of malfunctions.
