Is the Remington Mohawk models a higher or lower quality grade gun than the regular models ?

  Lower. Made to sell at bargain basement prices while still being a good product. A true "utility" tool.

  nord's right,I've had several over the years.
  Had 6 at one time,trying to get all the calibers
  but never found a .222 or.35.Anyway,w/family growing
  and such,all I have left is the first one I bought(.243)
  and it'aint goin' nowhere.I love it,short,light and accurate.

  Wasn't the Mohawk a stripped model 600, without the ray-gun looks?

  The first rifle I ever bought was a 6MM ray-gun Model 600 carbine. I think I paid $89.95 for it. I'd like another - maybe in .308 or 35 Rem. This was when Remington put the wrong twist in the barrels to properly stabilize heavy bullets.
  
  Oh, yeah... I'd still pay as much as 89.95 for it, even though it is a pretty old piece of iron.

  I recently acquired a 20 ga. Mohawk 48 shotgun. Can any one tell me anything about it. It looks similar to the 11-48 and the barrel is marked Remington. It has a 26 in barrel choked improved cylinder, no vent rib. Checkering appears to be machine pressed. Thanks.

  Read my comment above. Same gun, but with all possible corners cut. Probably a birch stock, less quality for finish work, but still a good tool overall.
