You got it, the old chamber was bigger (dosn't take much, just .001-.002), and dies just don't reach all the way to the bottom/corner (there's a radius at the mouth/front of the die). If you have enough non-fitting brass to justify it, there is a special "belt sizing" die on the market.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Hello, you may want to check with a good gunsmith, maybe he can polish the chamber and then the old ones will work again. MAYBE.

If "con" is the opposite of "pro," then what is the opposite of progress?

Check the dimensions of the area around the belt. Most dies don't properly size that area down properly so a different chamber may not accept brass from another gun.

if you have a spare shellholder to play with you might try grinding 20 of the top of the shellholder this will allow the cases to be resized further down. i have never tried this with a belted case but it will work on no belted cases

buckdeer is right. I have a 1903/A3 in 308 Norma mag. Brass is becoming more scarce( read more expensive). However it can be formed from any number of cases.
When forming from once-fired cases, I discovered that about half would chamber and fire normally. The others would bind so tight, they would not let the firing pin drop.
After trying all kinds of black magic, and pulling out a lot of hair, I ground the top off the shell holder to allow the sizer die to go farther down the case.
Since then I have only had a few that would not chamber and fire normally. Try it, it doesn,t cost anything, and that's the best kind of solution.....

It ain't what you shoot, it's what you hit.
