Inherited Rugar Blackhawk & Colt DA.41
My neighbor inherited several guns. He gave me the handguns to clean and store (in my safe). They have been stored in a leather bag for 15 years.
I can't find the serial number on the Ruger Redhawk (.44 mag.), but the grip might have been changed. The black plastic grip has a brass seal with a lion upon it, a "P" behind the lion, and the lion's paw upon a target. Is the number under this grip?
The Colt is a D.A. .41 with most of the blueing off (if it ever was blued. tough to tell). The serial number on the butt looks like 2107XX, arranged in two groups of three. Elsewhere, numbers indicate matching parts. The grip is chipped and the firearm is somewhat seedy in appearance, but apparently still functions. Any info on date of manufacture? Is this Colt dangerous to shoot? I notice .41 is not a common caliber. I find just four choices from my online provider, compared to several dozen each for 380ACP, 40S&W, .45ACP, etc.

Believe your Colt is the "New Army & Navy" Model dateing to the early 1900's. .41 Long Colt ammo is still available from specialist providers ( Scrounger etc). Considering the condition probably the best idea is to relegate it to Wall Hanger status. 0
