Moly coating bullets
I have a .257 Weatherby Mag. as well as my .264 Win Mag, 7mm STW, and .243 win.. I have been shooting the Combined Technologies Ballistic Silvertip 140 Gr. in my STW. I love the accuracy of the bullet but I dont like the bullets ability to stay together with the velocities it acheives. I Really like though when I clean the barrel, how little copper fouling there is in the barrel. When I shoot other bullets the patches are as blue as blue can get. I would like to get this great performance but with a different bullet. Something like the Scirocco. What would you recommend for a good moly coating process? I am looking into the Lazzeroni Lazzerhead bullets in the 120 Gr. for my STW and a few other bullets for my other rifles. The Lazzerheads are already coated[:D] but the others are not.

I bought a kit from Graf & Sons to coat my own. It's easy to do, and I think I paid less than $40 for the whole kit, and it comes with enough materials to do many thousands of rounds. It can rub off easier than the factory coating, but not too bad. Contact me if you need more info. 0 -
Rubbing off indicates that you are not getting the bullets clean enough.They must be TOTALLY degreased prior to starting..and do not contaminate between processes.
It is best to buy one bowel for each process.

I use the Lazzerhead bullets for my Sako TRG-S Warbird and they are awesome. Group has all three touching in one big hole using a 150 gr bullet and fps of 3700 plus. Only downside is the expense of the bullet but it is worth it to me.

Thats great to hear about the lazzerheads, I was a bit worried about ordering the bullets for that kind of money if they didnt perform well. I figured with it being Lazzeroni that they were top notch but you never know. My Dad and I are always arguing about the X bullet(A Lazzerhead is a modified X bullet that is Moly'd). he says they are not accurate. We have never tried them though. I have also been tempted to try the XLC in my .243 and have thought about it in my .257 but I dont beleive they make a 100gr XLC .257 and I wont shoot anything bigger then that in the gun, the performance is just too superior.
Highball, you seam to have alot of knowledge on the process, how bout sharing the knowledge with a fellow shooter? See I live in the boonies and there really isnt anyone around here that really knows their stuff to talk to, thus I turn to the net.0 -

I too use the combined tech ballistic silvertips in my .300win-mag, but similair to you I am suffering from fragmentation at close ranges. Combined Technologies also has the nosler partition available in a coated bullet with a pointed tip, and the ballistic coefficient isn't too bad, but I haven't tried them yet. I plan to though.
