Are you set on 40s&w? Because those XD9's have a neat trick that will give you 15rd mags. The XD40 mag will fit & function in the XD9. All you have to is pinch the feed lips a little and you will have a 15rd mag that will still function in both guns.

It's always nice having a few extra rounds in a competition.

Edit: I'm not a fan of USP's. Had one in .45 too big for my hands & couldn't get used to the trigger. Traded it for a Glock 21 I had previously owned.

Wouldn't that be considered an illegal modification?

    Drobs,

Clip capacities in excess of 10 rounds are illegal in Canada, unless the handgun fires .22 rimfire. So, given that I can't get clips holding more than 10 anyway, I'm going with a .40.

As for extra rounds, that's what extra clips are for.

    rsnyder,

No since the mag will still function in the XD40.

Personaly I prefer a steel frame 1911 over polymer, the extra weight helps reduce recoil for faster follow-up shots. But if polymer is the way you want to go, I would go with the Springfield..40 is a good caliber, less recoil than .45 but still big enough to make major. Also not as pricey as .45.

Good luck and many fast A's

I have the USP .40 in both Compact and full size and would recommend the full size gun for ISPC.

The recoil on the smaller lighter guns can be harsh but the full size gun seems to recoil much less.

Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun has!

I believe that for the money paid you will be alot more pleased with the XD40 over the HK USP.

http://www.hecklerkoch-usa.com/ is the fastest-loading web page I've used.

I see this as an overall indicator of the company (like a company's building and facade before the era of telephones, when business was transacted by post and face-to-face).

If folks go to that much expense on a web page (vs. Glock, SigArms, and Beretta), their quality of the company can somewhat be reflected in their products.

For sure, not a completely scientific comparison. But it IS something.

I like both pistols, but I'd rather go with the Hk USP full size, or a
Hk USP Expert. I do like the XD, however I'm not a fan of the grip safety (grip safeties belong on Gov't models), and I'd rather go with a pistol that has an established reputation(the USP).

Let's face it the XD needs to prove itself with time in service!
