pyrodex vs. triple seven

I just bought a t/c omega and am starting to get ready for the upcoming season. I want to use to 50gr pellets but don't know whether to use pyrodex pellets or triple seven pellets. What are the advantages of each? Also when loading the sabot should it be pushed down to crush the pellets or just to set on top of them. thanks

  I suggest that you pick up a powser flier from Hogden Prowder Co and see what they recommend for loads and then try a few of thier loadings.
  
  If the gun you purchased was new in the box it also should have come with suggested load data.

  I can't speak to the trip 7, but i shot the pyrodex last year in my omega and it shot very well at both 100 gr. (2 pellets), and 150 gr. (3 pellets). Sorry not to be more help, but I can attest to the pyrodex firing every time and awfully accurate shooting.

  I've been shooting Triple 7 for the last month or so preparing for deer season, and I like it. There was a warning on the pack of pellets and also in with the gun NOT to crush the pellets with the bullet. Just seat it on top. Good luck!

  Get you a jug of powdered triple seven and a powder measure (50 gr.). The triple seven is a lot cleaner than the pyrodex and the gun is a lot easier to clean up when done shooting. Just throw the gun in the tub use soap and water on it and it is clean. I have used triple seven for two years now and no more pyrodex or black powder for me.

  777! Shoots as well as Pyrodex and is much easier to clean. Don't crush the pellets as said above, but do seat the bullet or sabot firmly on the pellets with no air space between.

  Crushing the pellets would negate the hole in the center which is designed for a proper ignition of the powder column (stacked pellets). If you eliminate this hole,...you would end up with varying burn rates and possibly a secondary ignition situation.
  
  why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

  777 is the way to go imo, however be careful with cleaning, your gun still needs to be cleaned soon after shooting. Also, in my experience it is not alot easier to clean than pyrodex, but doesn't stink so you can clean inside without the smell!! By the way, I think after a while you'll be better served with loose powder, its cheaper and easier to taylor a load. To me the lure of the pellets is mainly to new comers and the realization that it ain't much quicker soon comes.
