I HAVE A CHANCE TO BUY A RANDALL .45. NIB. DON'T SEE A LOT OF THESE. ANYBODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM?

  I wonder about the accuracy of the information since the major premise that Randall was the first stainless M1911-pattern pistol is incorrect. AMT introduced stainless 1911-pattern pistols in 1977. Colt itself introduced the Government Model in stainless in 1984.
  
  Randall pistols are high quality, and the mirror-image pistols are interesting, but they were not the first stainless M1911-pattern pistols.

  Judge Colt you are correct in that Colt & Amt did manufacture stainless pistols prior to the Randall. The claim by Randall was their pistol was the first "ALL" stainless production manufactured 1911 clone.

  clays, I understand the distinction, and since I am such a stainless fan, it is an important one. The early AMT pistols had carbon steel springs and a nickel-plated carbon steel magazine. (Early AMT pistols were not properly heat-treated and were soft, unlike the much higher quality Randall pistols.) I am not sure about the springs in early stainless (or current for that matter) Colts, but the Colt magazine bodies were/are stainless. I was always going to buy a left-hand Randall, but spent my money on something else until it was too late.
  
  As a side note, Randall offered black nylon cases in a wide range of sizes and I bought a bunch. (They were very inexpensive compared to Kolpin and other brands of cases, but were adequately-made and functional. I sprayed the interior fleece lightly with Tetra-Gun for rust protection, which worked like a constant wipe-down.) For years, I used them to transport my Colt collection and trade stock to shows where I put as many cased guns as I could conveniently carry in one of several duffle bags. It was so much more convenient than the hard Kalispell aluminum cases I had used before (boy, do I have a bunch of money in those Kalispell cases that I should try to sell!), and less obvious if seen in a vehicle by potential thieves. I wonder if the Randall cases have any collector value now? Perhaps they do to a Randall collector who does not have any.

  I have a Randall B131 NIB w/box w/ docs and a low S/N. The manager of the store I worked for knew I was left handed and offered it to me as she knew I was left handed. I never saw the black cases but I also bought every LH magazine that came into the store. I wonder what the mags are worth?

  Very high class Pistiol. Sold half a dozen to local cops and deputys, they all liked 'em very much. Never had a bring back or reported problem.
