Assuming it's the right one and I think you are referring to a monogrip, there's probably something holding up. My Colt Detective Special had a little crosspin preventing it going on--my local gunsmith put it on a rubber mount and knocked the pin out and that allowed the grips to go on. There's probably an identifier on the grips on the inside. You can check with Hogue if you can't determine what's wrong.

The 686 is not a K frame, its a L frame. Slightly beefier. But I THINK that the grip is the same for both, so I am not sure that is your problem though. I have had a problem similar to yours, trying to put a houge monogrop on my Ruger Security six (the factory grips suck)and I never did get the darn thing to fit. Mine just didnt seem to be a real good fit. SOrry I was of no real help. Good luck.

YOUR SMITH HAS A PIN THROUGH THE BUTT OF THE GRIP FRAME I BELEIVE, IF SO HAVE YOU REMOVED IT. THE LAST LITTLE BIT YOU SHOULD ROLL GRIP ONTO FRAME, TURN WITH THE CURVE OF GRIP. ALSO THE U SHAPED STRAP THAT CLIPS OVER THE BUTT CAN GET TWISTED SO ITS NOT IN THE GROOVE AND BINDS.THEY CAN BE A PAIN BUT THEY SURE FEEL GOOD ONCE THEY ARE ON .

Thanks guys, I'll make another stab at it today.

I figured it would be an easy slip on deal....
