The USGI mags tend to be best, personally I have never had a failure with one. Depending on the make of AR you have they may also use Thermold mags well too. The English SA80 mags work great too, they are on par with the USGI mags although they are a bit heavier. I'd recommend the USGI and SA80 mags. Most of the other stuff is either unreliable or tempermental. Stay away from the el cheapo steel mags they sell at the gunshows for 10 bucks, they suck, no quality control[xx(]

    Love them Beavers

I've tried the thermold and the British steel mags in mr AR-15 rifles, they work pretty well for me and are a little more inexpensive than the USGI mags.......not bad, try it out![8D]

Tried pretty much all of them. If you dont want to pay the extra price for it to have "Colt" stamped on it, go with the Thermold. I have had great luck with them. Completely stay away from the 40rd mags and the cheapys from the gun show. None of them work.

I agree with KJ, I have had the most luck with GI contract mags. I have Sanchez, OKay, Adventureline, & 2 of these English steel mags. Good deal on the English mags over at:

Stay away from USA mags. They are junk.
