9mm ammo question
I'm getting ready to purchase my 1st 9mm and had a question about the different kinds of ammo...what is the difference between the 9mm Luger, 9mm nato and the 9mm parabellum...I'm going to be purchasing a Glock M17 and was wondering if all the 9mm ammo is interchangeable or can I only use the 9mm Luger ammo in the Glock? The three you listed are the same,now theres a 9mm kurz thats what most call380 cal.

Well all of those 9mm cartridges just happen to be the same! In Europe the 9X19mm pistol round is generally refered to as the Parabellum since it was developed for the German P-08 Parabellum service pistol designed by George Luger. Here in the United States the name Luger is commonly used for that same P-08 pistol and the same 9mm cartridge. 9mm NATO is the common STANAG agreement between members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to insure that ammunition (and other equipment) meets identical specs and can be safely used by all treaty members armed forces. You see, they are all the same but use a different name...just to confuse you!

Every country had to come up with their own I guess, but yea they are basically all the same.

Thanks everyone for clearing that up for me...I just wanted to make sure before I started buying ammo...I have purchased alot of ammo off of GB and am a big fan of the Winchester Black Talon and Ranger ammo...that's what I use in my other handguns...Thanks again!!!
