Ruger P89
I bought a couple hand guns last fall. I have a Kimber 45acp high cap. Nice gun and accurate to. I like the trigger because it dont have a lot of free travel befor it fires. Its right there. It has a solid feel to it but not a lot of travel. I like the way it fires. The Ruger 9mm on the other hand seems like you pull back the trigger forever before it fires. My question is CAN this be changed. I like the feel of the gun in my hand but not the free travel the trigger has. If I could get it to feel like my Kimber I think I would like the 9mm just as much. Any body with advice ?

I bought a used Ruger p89 not long ago with VERY, VERY few rounds through it. It is stainless with a manual safety. The serial # is 312-68063. Could someone tell me when it was manufactured and an approximate value so I can know if I paid too much. 0 -
I had a P89 when they first came out. Great pistol, big grip, middling weight. Very reliable - I put over 4000 rounds through mine with only 3-4 jams (operator errors, all of them - didn't seat the round in the mag properly) and a few misfeeds (again operator error - limp hold).
Mine shot 2.25" groups on average at 25 yds. Tightest/loosest groups: 1.8"/3.3".
My only gripe was that it was a "fat" gun, which occasionally makes reaching for the magazine release a stretch.0 -
The Rugers are quite reliable and rugged I don't see how you could go wrong with one if you decided to get one.

I have one and it is great to shoot. They are very reliable and will shoot any brand of ammo you feed it. You cant go wrong with it.
Guncontrol-The ability to hit what your aiming at.0 -
They are good guns, but I think you will be disappointed with one over a beretta. Why don't you look into maybe a Glock 34.
The smoothest shooting 9mm I ever fired was a 1911 sprinfield chambered in 9. The next smoothest was an all stainless Smith and Wesson 639.0 -
i like my p89 but to tell the truth i like my walther p99 better..got it in 40 cal gonna get another in 9mm 0 -
My P89 has been flawless.
With that said,I will repeat.

They are decent guns but have you tried the trigger? They have to have one of the worst triggers in their class. Creepy...

I totally agree that rugers are excellent guns. And you can't go wrong with one, unless you can buy something better... Actually, in the same price range as the ruger, I'd highly recommend a CZ over the ruger. They seem to be alot more accurate and have better ergonomics.

That is about the tightest groups I've ever hear of a ruger getting, did you put an aftermarket barrel in it? Are you using a special handload? My $1000 S&W 627-3 doesn't group like that.0 -
