ok which L1A1 do i want

i have seen alot of posts over the last few weeks about this FAL or L1A1..metric this inch pattern that imbel rec vs that receiver.
i have been thinking about getting one..i want a good one..what do i want,i know nothing about this type of weapon..i just want to buy one that is considered top of the line and not worry about who made it or if it is a good one or not.. give me some pointers i have about 2 grand to spend but would like to save a little for ammo if i could,,

  There are several REAL FN/FALs for sale here at GB. That's what you want. BUT, if you want a really good rifle, get a M1A, I've got both, and the M1A out shoots and out classes the FN/FAL all day long.[:D][:D](stir, stir)

  My advice if you decide to get a FAL do one of two things. Buy a parts kit and a Entreprise reciever, and have it assembled. Or buy a DSA FAL. The budget alternative would be to get one of those CAI FAL's that are market R1A1. They aren't really that bad at all.
  
  If you get an M1A, I'd either get a standard mil-spec from Springfield Armory. But if you have the money and want a tricked out one, just get a Fulton Armory M1A.

  I've got two FAL rifles, and a bunch of my friends own the CAI produced clones. They all function well, but I'd have to say that if you want the top of the line, look into an original Fabrique Nationale,Imbel,DSA,or a Springfield Armory SAR-48. These are the best examples of an FAL I've seen.[8D]
