Calling all the experts....
Good morning,
I have in my posession a Colt Lightning .38 DA revolver and I'm looking to figure out the value. Can anyone help? I'm sure a pic would help and I'm working on that. Also, although the gun is DA, the trigger doesn't fully pull the hammer back and release, rather it gets stuck partially cocked. Any suggestions???
Thanks in advance.

Well let me first say that your answers are only as good as your questions. Sounds like your trigger strut is worn and needs replacing or the sear is not right. That or it's one of ten other problems. You have gotten a hold of the Gunsmiths nightmare. It took me two years to learn how to fix a lightning correctly. It takes from 3 minutes to 3 months to repair one. Depending on who has tried to fix it before me. The lighting is the most complex and confusing gun to try to fix, especially if you have no patience or experience. I only know 5 guys who can fix one. One is dead, The other won't even do it anymore, One guy is to busy. That leaves me and my good friend to help you out. If you don't want to do so your self.
In regard to your question of value, If it is an origianl gun with all factory parts and no blue or nickel and functions correctly. The going rate is $375 - $500, depending on if it's antique and condition of the metal and such. If it's broken the prices dorps according to how broke it is. If you have a lettered factory engraved gun from colt to someone else famous or notable with high condition. Then your looking at thousands of dollars probably. Like ya said hard to tell with out seeing pics or holding it.
If you would like to get it fixed or find out how much it will cost. Holler at me and we will work something out. vmadeath@bellsouth.net
