Bingham PPS-50

Anybody have any input on this rifle? Are they any good? Are they worth the investment? What do the magazines go for?

    The magazines are expensive: drum @ $300; 30 rd stick @ $100. Nevertheless, they are fun to shoot and always cause eyebrows to arch at the range. [:D]

    Hey Hairy!! Is the Bingham PPS-50 worth the money? Is it reliable? Any problems or is it a real ace? When was it made? Are parts readily available?

    Reliable? Well, that depends upon the magazine and the ammo. I'm still trying to find the right combo (I have 2 of them, both with drums and sticks.)

    Worth the money? You need to decide if you want a neat looking gun that drives the PC crowd crazy. Saw my first one at a show and the seller was asking $950! I was willing (then) to pay over $500 but he wouldn't deal. Was able to find them much cheaper. They pop up on GB every once in a while (one has been listed since early June but seller must be the same guy I met at the show).

    Parts: Scarce but you can find them. One had a stuck bolt and I took it to the gunsmith (turned out it just needed cleaning). He told me to just keep it clean and not use a lot of oil.

    All in all: fun guns.

    Great fun gun, but many have been "fooled with" in attempt to make them full auto. Be careful on your purchase. I have seen two of them that fired once when you pulled the trigger, and again when you released it!

    The is a guy who sets up a table at the Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot selling these things. A new one in the box with drum has a price tag of about $900, but then for a little more (about $500) he swears that he can make it full auto legally. I haven't seen anybody buy one from him, but it did cause me to stop and look. I bought the one I have used, and it is fun to shoot. I haven't been able to find any extra drums at any price. Good luck.

    Check the NOV 2003 (Vol 7 No. 2) issue of Small Arms Review for a likely cause of the doubling shots in these guns......

    Is this the rifle that takes the mags similar to the 10/22? We've talked about it before, but I've never seen it until tonight. I seen one at the local gun shop for $300 w/no mags.

    Bambihunter: The mags for the Bingham require an adapter for the Ruger 22. They do not fit right in without the adapter.
