    I recently bought a
    Remington 1100 serial # L0985xxV
Left side of the Barrel there is a star and then 12GA. For 2 3/4 in. shells
Right side of Barrel close to the receiver there is an L in a triangle
    REP in an oval
    M
    D

It has a 21" smoothbore barrel with rifle sights

When was it made? and what do the marks next to the receiver mean? Can you tell what choke is on it?
    Thank for the time.

The 21 inch "deer" BBl were made with a improved cylinder if my memory serves me correctly. The rep in an oval is their normal proof mark
The " D" is for September and the M (most likly) is 1965
