Llama Pistols
I would like to know why some seem to harbor a mostly-unspecified grudge in regards to Llama pistols. I have owned several in calibers .22LR, .380, and .45, and all have functioned perfectly, including the new Max series in .380 and .45.
I also have a Norinco basic 1911A1 clone that shoots both dependably and accurately.
Any serious information on this subject would be welcome---

Main problem that I have with the Llama guns is that their quality is so inconsistant. If you got a good one, you got a real good one. If you got a bad one, sell it to somebody you don't like and try again. The Norinco 1911 I have always held in high regard. Excellent steel, good machining and a bargain price when they were new.

I have only owned one for 8+ years in 45 ACP (Government Model w/satin chrome finish), and I am highly impressed with the way it shoots. It has been flawless, and feeds all types of ammo... with no jams. I have owned an/or shot a few hundred 1911/1911A1s, and none of them has been as dependable or accurate as my Llama.

i own a Llama in .45 cal.
i had a ton of problems until i decided to pull out some parts
and replace the with colt parts .i never had another problem since0 -
Llamas are pretty well noted for inconsistant quality. Some work well, some don't. Buying one is pretty much a crap shoot.
They tend to be nicely finished on the outside, and pretty crudely machined and sloppy on the inside.
The problem comes when somebody buys a low priced Llama and expects it to function and shoot as well as a higher priced Colt, Kimber, or Springfield. Disappointment usually follows.
That having been said, I've got a Llama Mk.IIIa (2/3 scale copy of the M1911A1) in .380 that's a li'l sweetie.0 -
I bought a Llama "OMNI" because it used 1911 mags. I thought that was a good idea at the time. One day I was out shooting it, had maybe a 100 rounds through it when the rear sight flies off. I right a letter to the company in Spain and about a month later I receive a complete new rear sight in the mail. I'm thinking this is cool only a month. I locktite the new sight in place and go to the range and load the first mag and the third shot the windage screw breaks in half and the spring and half of the screw is lost. I put the gun back in its original box and its still in my safe. That was 15 years ago. Haven't opened the box since. "Llama", I think not. John

It's like mixing 2 beautiful women with 8 ugly women and getting to pick one while you're blindfolded![:D] You never know what you're gonna get![:D]
