presentation/sample remington rifles
I'm looking for some information on a set of remington WW1 contract rifles that were given to me by my father-in-law. He had purchased this set from an individual who was in his 80's (around 1960) who was involved with the Remington Bridgeport plant during ww-1. The set consists of a m-91 mosin-nagant, a m1908-14 French Lebel and a patern 14 enfield. They have a fine rust blue finish, high grade wood and are unfired . All three have matching bayonets that are serial numbered to the gun and have very low two digit serial numbers that are consecutive. From what I've been able to gather these sets were given to salesmen as samples, special individuals within the plant, or as presentation guns to heads of state, ect. A few years back in the mid to late 90's one of the gun magazines did mention such sets in an artical on Remington firearms and that very few exhisted. One set is at the Remington museum, another at the National Firearms musieum. I've tried Remington Arms and their historical society without any luck on a reply. Anyone know what magazine had the artical aprox 1996-1997 on Remington arms history that mentions these guns, where I might be able to get information to verify these guns and a possible value ?

259,
I don't have a clue as to where you can
find the info on your guns if Remington
can't(or won't)help,but it sounds like a
very interesting set you have there.
Good Luck.Keep us posted.
Oh yeah,Welcome to the board!!

You might try the curator of the "Winchester" wing of Buffalo Bill Historical Museum in Cody Wy. Sounds like an item some firearm museum might be interested in. Seems their web page might be: BBHC.org. Good Luck. 0
