    The gun was made over a period of 60 years a total of over a million and there may have been quite a few finish variations. I have one made 1955 that is all blue, about a 98% gun except for the pump rub areas. I paid $450 for it at local gun shop. Take down adjustment was still on first notch. Hope this helps.

    LOOK AT THE PROOF MARK AT THE TOP OF THE BARREL AND RECEIVER, THEY WERE STAMPED AFTER THE GUN WAS BLUE AND SHOULD HAVE SLIGHTLY RAISED EDGES

    A blued bolt is correct. The quickest way to tell assuming it's the takedown version, remove the barrel assembly from the receiver. Look at the barrel chamber ring, it sits right in front of the breech bolt. It should be "in the white", not blued. If the chamber ring is blued the whole gun has has been reblued. Reguards Dave
