I'VE HAD SEVERAL OF THESE IN FOR REPAIR WITH THIS PROBLEM. AS SOON AS THE TRIGGER BREAKS THE SLIDE STOP DROPS DOWN UNLOCKING THE SLIDE AND THE GUN AMOST ACTS LIKE A BLOW-BACK SEMIAUTO. A NEW SLIDE STOP HAS HELPED. THIS ISN'T NESSESARILY DANGEROUS AS THE WEIGHT OF THE FOREARM IN RECOIL KEEPS EVERYTHING LOCKED UP UNTIL THE PRESSURES DROP. IT IS STILL SOME THING I DON'T LIKE.

Winchester screw-up,I think. The slide stop appears unworn..just starts dropping the instant the trigger is pulled.

Do you think building up the stop a bit with weld would allow more lag time ?

WIN. PUMPS WILL OPEN UP AND EVEN EJECT UPON FIRING . THEY CALL IT A SPEED PUMP.

3 SHOTS: .56 of a second ... those numbers sum up the Winchester Model 1300 Speed PumpT line of shotguns. Though you may not care to shoot as fast as our R&D shooters, you'll still get follow-up shot speed you'll appreciate. Speed Pump shotguns are renowned for impressive follow-up shot speed thanks to inertia-assisted pumping from a proven rotary bolt system.

    Jeeze....
It is indeed a fact then that the actions are designed to "open themselves"....I knew that I had lived too long. Not being a shotgun man,it all seems..bizarre...I had the forearm jerk out of my hand..used to shooting a rifle,I had a good grip on it,holding firm..

The 870 I have seems pretty fast to me..minus 'self -opening..

DON'T FEEL BAD I AM A SHOTGUNNER MOSTLY DOUBLES RATHER THAN PUMPS.
I ACTUALLY RETURNED ONE FOR A CUSTOMER THINKING IT WAS NOT LOCKING
UP AND COULD BE DANGEROUS , MAN WAS I EMBARRESSED WHEN THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY SUPPOSED TO DO THAT .[:)]
