what is a G98/40 worth
Have a G98/40 all matching #, german marks, w/sling in exc con. Any idea of what it worth

You got a a Factory ORIGINAL, Hungarian, all matching numbers ( no forced matching ), EXCELLENT ORIGINAL condition 98/40. Four Figures+ easy. Most of them never made it back from the Ost Front. 0 -
Where may one obtain four figures easily for said rifle? I have two and will sell one for that price.

You got a 7.92mm, Gewehr 98/40 made by Femaru Fegyver in Budapest Hungary. For the Germans circa 1940 -1943.
1), Factory ORIGINAL
2), EXCELLENT condition.
3), All MATCHING numbers and, correct WAFFENAMT's

Sure, here ya go! If you need to see any particular part, let me know. All bands, stock, etc. is matching with waffenamts. Only first two pix are of the 98/40 jvh43, the last two are some of my other weapons.
Can you name the rifles? Hard to see, but the rifle hanging vertically on the left is a ce43 Zf41 matching rig. The others (All WWII German) you should be able to recognize. If number 3 gives you a problem, here's a clue. Mauser was the only maker.
The pistols are all what they appear to be. The P.38 is a byf42 and the snail drum is a second model Bing. Rest are pretty standard.

Thank you for the photos, (2) problems though!
1), The stock is trashed, it looks like it's been drug behind a T-34 from Stalingrad to Berlin. No Way, No How would it be considered excellent condition.
2), More Important, The receiver of the 98/40 directly above the wooden stock doesn't reflect the distressed condition of the stock. This cannot be, if the stock has been trashed the metal portions of the rifle would have to be in the same condition.
Obviously you didn't understand my previous post! Please, slowly reread the section regarding "SHADE TREE MECHANIC's" and "TROLLS".
As I said before to the original poster, if he has A factory original 98/40. In excellent original condition with the correct Waffenamt's, he has something that could worth in the 4 figures.0 -
I kinda had a feeling you would react that way when called on that high estimate. The stock is matching and Waffenamted. The weapon is all correct and about perfect. The fact you requested no additional photos speaks for itself. I'm not exactly sure what the reference to "Trolls" is. Is that the same as "Blowhard"?
Now to the original poster, Jim62. The G98/40's will fetch between $400 and $800 from someone who wants one. Eventually they will go over a thousand, perhaps within 4 or 5 years, but not yet.

AS I said before your rifle isn't in excellent condition, let alone "PERFECT".
Also you haven't addressed the point I raised about the condition of the stock vis a vis the receiver.
As I said before there is NO Way a stock can be trashed like that, without corresponding wear on the barrel/receiver.0 -
