H&R Harrington & Richardson Arms 32cal. 1800's ?
I have obtained a small frame 32cal five shot pistol. On the top it is stamped Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. It has a patent date of 1887 1889 on the barrel. I took the handle off and the serial number inside was 2762. I would place this gun in average condition. So what might this bring?

About $75, and please do try to shoot it... it was made soley for blackpowder (low pressure) catridges only.

i just picked up a second model top break "AUTOMATIC EJECTOR" in .32 S&W for $25.00. to my surprise, some of these guns are woth a few hundred dollers in good condition. while a agree that most of these guns are in poor condition, and should never be fired without an OK from a gunsmith, some of them are quite collectable. even FLAYDERMANS lists a few models.
my particular gun was made around 1889, and limited to about 5000 pieces. they are interesting arms for an entry level collector. we all have an H&R or IVER JOHNSON lying around somewere.
please do not dismiss these guns as mass produced, poor quality arms without a little research. there are diamonds in the rough out there, and in excellant condition make fun shooters.
if you can find a large rimfire version (.32, .38) they are worth about 50% more than the centerfire cousins. many sellers do not even realize that the rimfires exist, or are worth more.
i own 6-7 of these guns, al over 75% condition, and enjoy them. best regards, mike.

for general information the single action spur trigger h&r revolvers were manufactured from about 1878 until about 1883.
the fimfire versions of the american double action and young america double action were called bull dog models and are marked that way. which is why there is confusion between them and the american bulldog revolvers manufactured by iver johnson's arms and cycle works.
