Ithaca shotgun
I recently located an Ithaca XL300 semiauto shotgun. It's for sale, good condition, only one or two spots of surface rust and no scratches on the metal or the wood, plain barrel, 12 ga. 2 3/4 inch shells. What's it's approx. worth, is it still in production, and are parts available? Thanks in advance.[?][?]

I have a old ithaca model 37 ducks unlimted 12 guage in good condition the reciever is gold ingraving with the ducks unlimted and wondering what it is worth. 0 -
The XL300 was in production from 1973 to 1976. Parts are around, but they will take some effort to find. "Surface rust" all I can give you is low book about $125. High book $250. Not a real collectors item. Might be ok to keep in the truck during hunting season.

If you're wanting a nice looking shooter then I'd opt for the XL900. One confusing fact about the XL300's and XL900's (barrels WILL interchange between them) is that Ithaca teamed with SKB and released the EXACT same model numbers. The easy way to tell them apart is that the Ithaca XL's are recoil operated (and will use either recoil operated barrel) and the Ithaca/SKB XL's are gas-operated.
From my experience the gas operated models work more consistently than the recoil operated models. Barrels are a little hard to find for these guns and aren't as cheap as say a Rem. 1100 or 11-87 or a Win. 1400. On the plus side, they are nearly a full pound lighter than most other comparable semi-auto's. I personally think Ithaca's are one of the best, albeit less-known, shotgun makers in the lower priced segment. Personal opinion only...
Having a predictable enemy is better than having an ally you can't trust.0
