J model ? Savage O/U 22 mag/20 ga 3"

Curious about this one. Last two versions of the Blue Book do not mention this model.

It is marked 24 J DL, but there's no listing of a J model.

Any clues?

  I feel your pain, I have the same one. fox scene on one side of the reciever, turkey on the other. Hammer mounted selector. mine has no serial## so I think that puts it pre-1968. I traded a new H+R handi rifle for mine even up. So I paid $225 in 95%. I'll give you that for yours....

  This is what my book sez, if your gun has a satin chrome frame and checkered stock. The DL stands for deluxe,and was made between 1962 thru 1969. According to my blue book 100% 170.00 dollars. Now I don't know about your area but in mine these bring a lot more money. Because you just don't see them.And when you do thier pretty well used and I mean well used. The 410's always bring good money and go quick. Also surfing the net you can get a Idea of the prices. Have seen asking prices on some in really good shape going between 500.00 to 700.00 dollars. Looked at a dealers WHOLESALE catalog and wholesale on the new ones savage is selling now is over 400.00 !!! So retail would put this gun close to the 600.00 range. Thier getting pricey like the little savage 410 doubles. I do a lot of gun hunting gun shows, private sales, internet, estate sales and you just don't see them. A lot of people havem but don't let go of them! I just found a 22 mag over 410 in the box with the hang tags but it wasen't cheap and I've seen very few 22 mags over 410. It's a early one because hang tag sez the new 22 mag cartdige.Anyway I hope this helps. Also 1967 shooters bible confrims this model among the others they sold in this time frame.   I did not see that you were trying to find a reference to the J model-DL. I will look thre my old shooters binble's and gun digest's and try to find some info. Please forgive my ingorance. Thankyou Beltfed

  Also have the 410 model, both in near perfect condition. Almost wish the 410 was beat up so I could carry it in the canoe! That's the same type of gun I carried as a kid. Lot's of old memories.
