RUGER BEARCATS

Can anyone tell me the ages and values of my two Bearcats? One has a 5 digit s/n 87xxx and the other has s/n 90-11xxx . Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  I RECENTLY BOUGHT A SECOND BEARCAT AND HADE THE OPPORTUNITY
  TO TRY IT TODAY .I WAS EXPECTING THE CYLINDER TO UNLOCK WHEN I OPEN
  THE LOADING GATE , TO MY SURPRISE IT DIDN'T .INSTEAD IT HAS A HALFCOCK HAMMER POSITION LIKE THE BEARCAT I BOUGHT AROUND 30 YEARS AGO . THE NEW MODELS HAVE STEEL TRIGGER GUARDS [ NOT BRASS - CORRECT? ] UNLIKE THE BRASS ON ORIGINAL . DO I HAVE A NEW MODEL , DO THEY HAVE A TRANSFER BAR OR AN OLD MODEL WITH STEEL TRIGGER GUARD RATHER THAN BRASS .

  Thinman..... What you may have is an older "super bearcat". It differed from the "bearcat" in that it had a steel trigger guard.
  
  The older bearcats had the gold colored light weight trigger guards, and the older "super bearcats" had the blued steel guards.
  
  I believe the new bearcats have the transfer bar system. Ruger did this years ago to all their single actions for "safety" reasons.
  
  I have 2 of the older Bearcats. One regular, which is the first gun I ever bought back in 1966, and one super. They are fine little guns, and lots of fun to shoot.

  My specimen, S.N. 93-128XX, has a steel trigger guard and a transfer bar. Seems to me that I recall the original model being offered with a steel guard later in its production, so I think you have an old model.

  SOUNDS LIKE A SUPER. GO TO WWW.RUGER.COM AND CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBER. PRE 1972. GOOD LUCK
