45 Long Colt in a 454 ?
Brother in law just bought a taurus 454. It is simply too much gun for him. Can one shoot 45 LC in it like you can in the ruger? Or do I need to start hand loading 454 for him? I can't find anything in print.

Shouldn't be a problem but the Long Colt being shorter will eventually leave a build-up at the case mouth which will disallow the 454 from completely seating. Clean the cylinders good after each use to avoid this problem. 0 -
Hello, I believe that the Ruger says right on the cylinder both .454 and .45 Long Colt. At least the ones I have seen did.

Rhonda hit the nail on the head just clean those cyl. holes good to keep the build up out and you shouldn't have any problems 0 -
That is what I figured, but wasn't sure. I know the ruger is labeled that way as he has one of them also.
thanks,

I had one of the Rugers; operative word had, and everyone is correct you have to really really clean the cylinder after shooting 45LC, otherwise you will need a hammer to get 454 cases out of the gun. 0 -
Not a problem. Just like 38 Special in a 357 Mag. Very nice to shoot at target & you still can have the big boy (454) if you need it. 0
