Rem 700 stock
I have a rem 700 stock, but I do not know if it is long or short action. Does any one know how to tell the difference.

I would like to know if a rem 700 s.a. stock will fit a rem model 7 s.a.
Thanks Ron0 -
Any idea what caliber rifle the stock came off of? All magnums except for the new SARUM's, 270, 30-06, 280 are long actions. 22-250, 260, 243, 7mm-08, 308, 220swift, etc. are short actions. If the stock is a bdl(hinged floorplate or det box) measure the length of the cut out for the magazine. Short actions will be around 2.85 inches. Long actions will be over 3inches. Same for the adl(blind magazine. Hope this helps.

On my short action 700, the distance between the front and rear receiver lug holes is just a hair under 6 ?" ...
