Is +P+ ammo legal for civilans?

I've came aross some 9mm ammo (no I didn't steal it) that is marked +P+ "for law enforcement use only". Is this legal to carry by a civilan? My bet is it is only marked like this by the factory to keep the high pressure rounds out of old guns, but is there laws saying only Poice can use this? Thanks in advance.

  There probably are towns where this might be considered no no, but chances are you are more likely to have some nasty DA taking you to task for using it on a perp. "Your honor, he used this high powered ammo and blah blah, this blood thirsty civilian thought he was Wyatt Earp and...."
  
  Since DAs don't know ammo from their elbows, best to use "ordinary" +P+ you bought at XYZ gunshop if you get my drift [:D]

  Good advice from all above. Before you shoot any of this ammo through your gun, make sure that your weapon is rated for the hotter "P" loads. If you have an older semi-auto, depending on the condition of it and if it is quite old, I wouldn't use the "P" loads if I were you. You could end up with " a face full of slide" or you might have to change your name to "stumpy ( no fingers ).

  In my humble opinion, +P ammo is unnecessary for citizens in personal defence situations. There are too many good standard pressure ammos available. What they won't do is not needed. Besides that, I have never found extra pressure ammo to be as accurate and reliable as standard pressure.
  
  The more important thing you can concern yourself with than +P ammo is to practice your shooting skills. Powerful ammo is no substitute for accuracy and quickness.
