Another Mod. 12 problem
Mine was made in 1912(I think).
When I got it,(about 15 years ago)it was obviously
a much used and abused gun.It functioned fine until
it started throwing all the shells out of the tube
when I pull the slide back.Any ideas?Or should I just
leave it back in the far corner of the safe?

If it is a first year gun, it's a 20ga, with a serial number below 5309. This gun has a short chamber if it's a 20 ga and a first year gun, (2 1/2inches) The problem lies in the cartridge stop. If the iside is real dirty it wont return to the normal position after pumping thus the shells continue to feed. If the problem is till there after cleaning, it's time for a new cartridge stop. It's about a $12-$25 part, (depending on who you buy it from) and takes about 5 min. to R & R. Regards Dave 0 -
No spell check, made an error. That's inside not iside. If you want to know some good Md gunsmiths email me. Regards Dave 0 -
you need a new "shell stop". its an easy parts swap for a qualified gunsmith. the item is easy to obtain, and does not cost an arm and a leg. (just my over the internet opinion, never having handled your gun). i have seen this failure on other vintage model 12`s, and a new "shell stop" fixed the malfunction. best regards, mike.
