    Comments....yes; the barrel should not screw out that easily, and the use of a strap wrench is to tighten it without marring it--both of which facts I'm sure you already knew. As for Locktite threadlocker, you basically have two choices: red, which is just about a permanent installation as it requires almost 500 degrees of heat to break the bond and get it loose, and blue, which will release with mechanical force and basically just gums up the threads to prevent them from backing out easily. Go with the blue. Make sure that you thoroughly degrease both male and female threads before using, and use it generously. It would be nice if the class of thread fit were such that it did not back out, and you might solve this by trying a replacement barrel. I imagine, though, that yours is a high polish blue, and you will find most replacement barrels to be finished to a lesser polish that may not match the rest of your gun well.
