i was reading the selling part of this site and it said to check its licence. i never registerd this gun with any one it was given to be by my cousin who bought it off an old co worker he knos when i was young.what do i do now???? please help

  Not to worry. If you sell your weapon on line, make sure you get a copy of an FFL if the weapon was made after 1898. Before that, no restriction, but most everyone gets a licence to ensure no kids are buying.
  Guns are not "registered" per se unless you live somewhere where state and local laws require it. Guns are "transferred" via dealers in interstate commerce and locally.
  You're okay to sell. Don't let the ogres scare you. Just come back here. Someone will help guide you.

  just list it here, if it sells you will have to ship it thru a FFL who will log it in his book where it came from (you , a copy of your DL is nice ) and who got it ( the buyer )

  Here's another way to explain it just in case the jargon is still confusing. Go ahead and sign up as a seller and list your rifle. If you sell it and the buyer has an FFL (federal firearms license), he will send you a signed copy of it. You can then ship it to him within the Post Office regulations. If the buyer is not licensed, he must have someone who is, send you his copy. You then ship it to the license holders address as listed on the license copy.He must then transfer it to the buyer after filling out a form and doing background check.As gskyhawk recommends, its good to enclose a photocopy of your drivers license as the dealer records the seller for his records.
