i want to sell my rifle but i dont know what to do

i am looking to post my rifle on here but i dont know how to ship it if someone wins the auction. do i take it to the post office or do i have to call someone speacial plaease help me.

    Yipes... How about telling us what type of rifle it is, and approximately when it was made. Modern Firearms (anything post 1898), have all types of restrictions... depending upon what it is, where you are located, and where you try you ship it. If it is a true "Antique" (pre 1899), there are almost no restrictions/rules/regulations.

    YIPES: !!!! Being in New York is as bad as being in California..
    Afraid this Gun is going to have to be shipped from Dealer to Dealer..
    Do You know of any Gunsmiths or Dealers in your area? Whatever You do be as Leagal as can be...Talk to a Dealer...He will charge You a small Fee to Handle the Transaction....as will the Recipient.., unless the person getting the Rifle is an FFL Holder....But I suggest going thru a Leagal 3rd Party in any case...

    do as i do..box it up and take it to a pawn shop that sells firearms..for a small fee they will ship it for you...no fuss no muss

    I don't know what state you are in, but here in Texas it is
    relatively simple. You need to recieve a copy of the recipients FFL signed in blue ink, unload the weapon , pack it in an unmarked box (no markings as to contents) and you can use the post office. You just need to take the FFL with you so they can see it is going to a gun shop or someone who is licensed to accept the shipment.

    In Texas it is not necessary to ship a rifle from an FFL, just to one.And you should inform the buyer that they will be responsible for all shipping fees and their FFLs charges before you get into the sale.
    Costs about 20- 30 dollars to ship, and the FFL may charge 10 -30 dollars for their service.

    The buyer must make arrangements with an FFL holder to receive it.

    hi, you don't need an ffl to ship. you need the recipiants ffl. the post office or ups will deliver as long as you show them an ffl. also, if its shipped within NY, no need for ffl at post office but ups will not do it, thier own policy, not law. good luck

    The USPS rules for shipping firearms are in Publication 52, which can be downloaded from their website. (An individual DOES NOT need to notify them that the package contains a firearm, and you DO NOT need to show the clerk the recipients FFL.)

    UPS will cost a lot less, but you must ship from a UPS Customer Counter. Federal law requires that you declare the contents of the package to UPS. At most locations you must declare the contents as "firearm for repair", or they won't accept it.

    Forget about FEDEX; they require that ALL firearms be shipped by Next Day Air, which is very expensive.
