Storing handgun in silicone cloth
A Colt of mine has marks from storage in the plastic case (right side of slide).
I saw one fella with felt pads in his case, I hear usually used to protect blueing.
Can I just wrap the gun in the cleaning cloth and tuck it in the molded case?
The cloth I have has no contrary instructions on the bag.
I ask the wise ones because we don't want moisture buildup in storage.

You might want to buy a Silicone gun sock, most gun shops & Kmart type stores sell them.

If you carry your gun around alot or store it in a hard plastic case, eventualy it's going to get some wear marks on it. As far as wrapping it in a silicone cloth, if you read the packaging that it came in, it instructs you not to wrap your gun with it, because it can trap moisture and cause pitting and rust damage. The best case to get to transfer your gun from one place to the next is one that has the acoustic style foam on the inside, but don't use it for storage either, for it to can trap moisture. ( Trust me, I found out the hard way ). All of my handguns are in my gun cabinet hanging by their trigger guards on felt covered pegs that allows the air to circulate around them. I take them out every once in a while and wipe them off with a silicone cloth and I've had them for many years without any rust or pitting. Silicone socks are o.k. for short term storage, but for long term they to can retain moisture too. I hope I've helped you out!

I use Bore Stores for all of my rifles and pistol rugs for the handguns. Bores stores has a web site, but they are actually cheaper at Cabela's and maybe Midway as well. When I ship rifles, I use a case with egg crate foam and put the rifle inside a borestore in the case. Works perfectly.

Silicone is inert and really should not be a problem. Many foams are
made using urea and will destroy the finish on an arm.0
