What works best in mine may not work as well in yours. My marlins love Federal but can't stand Remington. I shoot only CCI in my 10/22 as it groups the best. Winchester is ok in most everything I have.

Just check it out and see for yourself.

For me cleanest and most reliable is CCI.

Eley tennex. Actually, a 22 is probably the most ammo sensitive of all calibers. Experiment with as many different brands as you can. What works best in one gun may not be worth a hoot in another.

.22 rimfire guns are very picky. the best way to find a reliable, accuratte rimfire ammo for your piece is to by ten different 50 round boxes and test them out at the range for accurracy and functionality.

ELEY is one of most reliable, accuratte .22 rimfire ammo lines on the planet. having said that, my match compatition rifle groups poorly with it. you need to do some test firing, and stick with what does best at a price you can afford. best regards, mike.

Cleanest, probably CCI's. The best compromise between price and reliability is the Thunderbolts/Cyclone's. Some of my guns will shoot them, likely because of their wax coating, and won't shoot uncoated lead or copper bullets.

Having a predictable enemy is better than having an ally you can't trust.

Aguila shoots a tiny group in the match 10/22
Wolf shoots tiny groups but its like trying to load a water mellon seed that stuff is SLICK
PMC zapper also is a good round

Remington Subsonics shoot very well in my Rem. 581. I also really like their Golden Bullet. PMC Zappers have also worked well in the past. But it all boils down to your rifle and what it likes.

I own quite a few rimfire rifles and pistols. I'm pretty sure alot of other serious gun enthusiasts own quite a few too.

I second Mike, when he said to buy a box of different brands and test them out. I've done so in the past and yes, it does take time but it is well worth it and alot of fun. After all, that's why .22LR is the best selling ammunition and firearm in the country and probably the world.[8D]
