Marlin Glenfield

Can anyone provide some info on a Marlin lever action 22. It's the Glenfield Model 60. All of the firearm books I have list the Glenfield in 30 cal. and only the Model 30 series, nothing on a Model 60 or in 22 cal.

Any info as to history, if any, and value would be grealy appreciated. NRA condition s excellent.

  If I am not mistaken (and I am not a Marlin expert), the Glenfield Model 60 is an autoloading .22 rifle, which was near identical to the Marlin Model 99 series. These Model 60's have been in production since I was a kid back in the early 1960's and may well be in production today for all I know. Marlin did produce a lever action .22 rifle called the Model 56 and Model 57 many years ago. Could these be the ones that you are interested in?

  Likewise, I'll attest to the Marlin 60 as being a semi-auto. Where are you getting the model info, from the barrel? If so, perhaps someone fitted a Marlin 60 barrel to a Marlin levergun? A lot of Marlin rimfires have the model info on the barrel so we'll probably need some more reliable info.
  A Marlin 60 should have:
  An aluminum receiver
  A tube magazine holding 14/18 rds
  A barrel apx 20" long
  A cocking handle on the right side of receiver

  Thanks for all of the input. I am geting the info second hand from a friend who is not familiar with firearms. If it is in fact a Model 60 autoloaded, What might it be worth in NRA excellent condition?

  A new Marlin Model 60 retails right around $180 and these rifles tend to be heavily discounted from dealers and Marts in promotional sales. I see excellent used examples of the Model 60 move for around $100- often less, but seldom more. The Levermatic .22 Marlin rifles (Models 56 and 57) are worth CONSIDERABLY more money than the Model 60's. Get your friend on the phone and find out EXACTLY what he has and we can help you out, otherwise this is close to hopeless.
