Requesting info for antique!??

My request is for information regarding a muzzleloader, breechloader
my husband has. We are seeking what the value is if we were to sell it. On the gun is the numbers 1863 Entienne. I do not believe it works, or if we could buy the necessary supplies to shoot it.
He received it from his father with another old gun (rifle) and they came with others in a gun cabinet.

Sorry but this is a little garbled. Is it a muzzleloader or a breechloader? That is does it load from the front end of the barrel or the back end? 1863 would put it at the time of civil war and it could be either in this time frame. We would need a full description with all of the stampings or markings, as well as any information like caliber, action (if a muzzleloader, whether flintlock or percussion cap) etc. Folks here will certainly try to help, and we await your pleasure.

Barb in Star Lake...
I'm from the southern part of the North Country. My dad from Constableville, friends in Crogan, and shirt-tail relatives at Star Lake. Got rained out going camping there years ago and ended up at the FAA camp at Oswegachie.
Anyway... The shotgun is French, and either as a muzzle loader or breech loader it's most probably of damascus construction and unsafe to shoot with modern loads. These were black powder guns and not terribly strong by today's standards.
While the gun could be relatively high grade, the vast majority imported into the US weren't. Mostly what might be considered utility guns, but much better than their Belgian cousins.
The gun will enjoy a level of collector interest, but I suspect the value will be rather low as you mentioned no engraving or other features.

Value of muzzlestuffers is somewhat lower around these parts than breech loader's. In reasonable condition I'd expect no more than $200.00 for either gun... Probably somewhat less unless you get lucky.0
