Stevens 45 rifle.
I recently acquired a Stevens 45 rifle which has been re-barreled to an unknown .22 center-fire caliber, possibly .219 Zipper. I intend to do a chamber cast to determine the caliber, and go from there by either another re-barrel, or obtain dies and brass if it is a Zipper or similar. I would like to strip the action before I do the cast, and am wondering if there is anything I should be aware of before I start to pull the breech block, linkage and lever etc. as I would hate to lose a small spring or whatever. The rifle has a single set trigger, and I have the exploded view of a 44 1/2 action from www.gunpartsspecialist.com, but this rifle also has a cross bolt through the receiver below the barrel and just ahead of the breech block and extractor. Thanks in advance, DaveF.
