? on sks & german mauser

picked up an sks at an estate sale..was not in the actual sale had to ask if there were any firearms for sale..wife said there was one in the closet upstairs and got it for me..this is chinese it is infair shape but serviceable has chinese writeing on the rec side and 636 in a triange.has a small scope on it with chinese writeing on the mount and the scope itself..all the numbers match and sn is on the stock also spike bayo..i am no expert on these i have a few russian and a romanian is there anything special about this chinese one??i have not been able to find any import marks anywhere on it..as for the mauser i am told it is a concentration camp k98..very nice condition barrel and rec numbers match..on top of the rec is stamped BNZ followed by the SS marks and a number three below that,guess this was for nazi ss units..i have another k98 but it is a little different that it is simular to the other but it has the german eagle sitting on a circle with the swastica inside..this is part of the stash in my dads attic..still working on the M1's any sources on info on these three rifles? or anyone know anything about them

  Concerning the Mauser. There should also be a year (two digit) around the bnz marking. A couple of clear photos of the receiver top and left side would answer a good many questions.

  I have a few SKS rifles too. I own a chinese carbine, a standard model and a sporter that takes AK-47 mags. I also have the Russian,Yugoslavian, and Romanian versions. When comparing the quality of the different manufacturers I'd have to say that the Russian,Yugoslavian,& Romanian versions are of better quality.

  looking again at the mauser and cleaning it up a littl it looks like the two digit number is 43..

  hey slider cocerning that k-98 be careful with it my girlfreinds grandfather was a german soldier in word war 2 and he preaches to me all the time about nazi rifles because a lot of those guns built for ss units were made by slave labor thats right some of the jews did not sit around all day and you have to watch out for savatage

  and why im thinking about it you are very right it was produced using slave labor after i saw your post with the year i think it was sing camp that produced it but dont quote me yet ill let you know tommorrow just check the post

  and also if truly ss there should be an ss with the runs in front of the serial number

  there are i am assuming that the two lighting bolts or flashes between the BNZ on top and the 43 of the receiver are ss insigna..i do not plan on shooting this..if it is as i am told it could blow up on me as slave labor would mess them up...now the other i may shoot i feel it is a standard army issue k98 with the german markings but be fore i do anything i will have the guns checked by a qualified gunsmith

  bnz stands for steyer daimler puch which manufated the compnets and in order to cut time they were assebled by the slave labor in order to bolster production in the mid war period i think this is right anyone ?? please quote me if im wrong
