3" Model 12 Winchester
Does anyone know if the above has ever been manufactured with 3" chambers? If what would be the dates?

yes they did. they are veeeeery desirable guns because of the extra thick barrels that handle the steel shot. 0 -
The Md 12 Heavy Duck first came out in 1935 in plain barrel and solid rib barrels, 30 or 32 in in lenght Full choke. By the early 50's, (52 or 53) Winchester started offering them with vent ribs, this is the rarest of the "Duck" guns. They stopped making the solid rib gun in 59, and stopped the Duck gun in 64 with the others. They came with stanard field wood that was a 1/2 in shorter with a Winchester recoil pad. The but stock had an extra hole drilled into it and was filled with lead, to help balance the gun. They also offered Super field Grades as well as Pigeon. They even built some into Trap guns. These they say weren't as good pumpers as the standard Md 12, but I love mine, never had any problems. The barrel is stamped with "For Super Speed and Super X 3 inch. If you need more info email me. I concurr with Mike Wiskey, even thou the barrels are thicker than most shotgun barrels, the steel is softer than todays choke tubes or fixed choked barrels. Bismuth or Tungsten/Marix shot would be ok. If you have a Md 12 Duck or Md 12 gun with a full choke and shoot steel thru it, the choke will open up, especially with BBB or T shot, it will in a hurry. Then you will look for me for another barrel. LOL
