Rem 1100 .410 questions
My brother has a Rem 1100 .410 which has a 2 1/2" skeet barrel he would like to (if possible) buy a 2 3/4" or 3" barrel for it. Will one or both of these barrels fit and fuction in the receiver? He also needs a good used or new action bar assembly for it, where would be the best place to check for it? The charging handle detent and spring won't stay in even with new retainers. thanx for all and any help. Stace

Perhaps I should pass on this issue since I am not sure of what I will say, but I believe a field barrel can be used on the skeet receiver. My concern would be with springs, but I suspect the gas port size for each barrel will compensate correctly with no change in recoil spring specifications. The field barrel chamber will be 3-inch since to my knowledge there are no 2.75-inch .410 shells.
Remington would be the best place to get parts.0 -

I have exactly what you were asking. I have an 1100LW .410 and I bought all the different barrels available for it. There is no adjustment or anything else to do with it, just put the barrel on and go. They are extremely hard to get ALL of the barrels however (it took me a year).
A nice compliment to his skeet barrel is a 3" modified. Those are the most common 1100 .410 barrel being sold and they will typically sell for between $125 and $200 depending on condition.
The other guys are right, there is no 2 3/4" .410 shell that I'm aware of and I'm 99.9% sure IF it existed that Remington never chambered one for it.

Keep in mind that Remington doesn't stock all parts for all guns, especially in the .410 since it is considered discontinued, even though they seem to still be making very limited runs on it every year. Here's a list of thier "obsolete parts dealers":

Probably not on Judges level when answering a lot of questions but will venture in on this one. The new model 1100, 410 bores are all 3" and have trouble cycling with 2.5 inch shells unless the gas ports are altered(what Judge was talking about) but is a rather simple procedure! The older ones were efficient with either shell! Remington is making a limited number of the 410's each year(approx. 2500) and they are beautiful little guns!!!! There are a number of 3" Modified choke barrels listed on GB starting at $99.00 as I type this!! If you don't find one there go the other right wing sites!!! I finally dug all the stuff out and snapped a picture. I was taking pictures for my records, if heaven forbid, I ever needed them for insurance reasons. Like I said above, the gun originally had a modified choked barrel and over the period of a year or so I found a skeet, improved cylinder, and full choked barrels to go with it. They are all 98%+.
